Why I Don’t Go to Student Recruitment Events

I used to go to a lot of student recruitment events.

Days before the event, I:

  1. Arrange to design and print out the flyers, banners and brochures.
  2. Get a nice tablecloth with our logo.
  3. Get decorations for our booth to attract people

Then I wake up early, and bring a luggage full of those materials, head to the venue…

At first, there’s no one approaching our booth.

So we decided to walk around the exhibition hall, talk to parents and students, asking them to come to our booth.

More people come to our booth…

We get their contacts…

Some students and parents seem really interested…

So when the event finishes, I go home and contact those people through emails, calls, whatsapp, skype…

They either didn’t reply or were not interested…

What a waste of time and money!

So, I started to think about using partnerships and finding students through online channels…

It worked much better than going to events!

That’s why, I no longer spend my time, money and effort attending those student recruitment events…

But focus on improving our online strategies to recruit students… Students who are actually potential students, not just anyone who’s curious like at the events!
